CDJ

Also: CDJs

A CDJ is a professional DJ player. The name comes from compact disc jockey: Pioneer built it for CDs. Today it reads USB, laptops and often streams.

CDJs, plural, are the pair in the booth. Berlin booths often run a pair of CDJ-3000s plus a mixer. Playing “on CDJs” means the club’s players, not a laptop controller.

Pioneer DJ is now AlphaTheta. The shape is the same: large jog wheel, cue, pitch, hot cues. The stick carries Rekordbox or Engine.
